Shri Khateshver Mithaiwala

You can find Shri Khateshver Mithaiwala at Begampura on SV Road, 4/480. It’s a busy part of the city, and our shop fits right in with the rest of the old buildings around here. We’ve got a small workspace where we make all our sweets fresh every single day. It’s not a large factory or anything like that; it’s just a couple of us working with the ingredients we get from the local market. The morning starts with the smell of ghee and sugar, which is something you never really get used to, but it’s part of the job. Our counter is usually piled high with different trays, and we try to keep things organized, even when it gets crowded in the evenings. The space is a bit tight, so we’re often bumping into each other, but we’ve worked together long enough to know how to move around. We don’t use any fancy packaging or have a website. People just walk in because they’re passing by on SV Road or they live nearby. We focus on the basics of making traditional sweets without adding anything unnecessary. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to work by candlelight for a bit, which is just part of life here. We also spend a lot of time cleaning the glass displays every afternoon because the street dust is quite bad. It’s a simple business, and we’re happy to just keep doing what we’ve always done.
