Running this store at Rander 120 means being up before most other people in the neighborhood. We have to get the milk crates moved and the fresh bread stacked before the first customers show up. It’s a lot of physical work, moving bags of grain and heavy boxes of soap or cooking oil. The shelves are pretty high, and we keep them packed so we don't run out of the things people need daily. It’s a bit cramped in the aisles because we try to stock so many different items in one place. You’ll find everything from snacks to cleaning supplies if you look long enough. My family helps out, especially in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work and wants to pick up something for dinner. The floor gets a bit dirty from all the foot traffic, so we’re always sweeping. We’ve known the families around here for years, and we know exactly what they usually buy when they walk in. If someone is short a few rupees, we just write it down in the book and they pay us next time they pass by. It’s a regular neighborhood store, nothing more and nothing less. The bells on the door ring all day long, and that’s a sound I’ve grown very used to over the years. We stay open late because you never know when someone might run out of sugar.
