Santoshi Super Stores

Santoshi Super Stores sits right on Varachha Road at Alkapuri Society. We are near R C Dutt Road 474, which is a busy area to be in. The shop is full of all kinds of things, from soaps and detergents to snacks and cold drinks. It’s a bit of a maze inside because we keep adding new shelves whenever we get more stock in. I spend a lot of my time walking up and down the aisles making sure nothing is empty. The floor is that old grey tile that’s seen a lot of feet over the years. Customers from the Alkapuri Society come in mostly in the evenings after they get off the bus. It gets quite loud then, with everyone talking and the sound of the fridge humming in the corner. We have those big glass jars for chocolates and biscuits near the front because kids like to look at them. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road for a bit while we unload boxes of tea or bags of sugar. It’s hard work keeping it all straight, especially with the accounts at the end of the day. The traffic on Varachha Road never seems to stop, so there’s always a bit of dust coming in, and I’m forever wiping down the counters. It’s just a neighborhood store where people know where the bread is kept. Nothing more to it than that.
