Pooja General Store

Pooja General Store is tucked away in the Althan area. It’s a neighborhood that has seen a lot of new buildings come up recently, but our shop stays pretty much the same as it always was. We keep a variety of goods that people use in their daily lives. You’ll find packets of tea, sugar, some pulses, and small toys for children near the front. The space is a bit tight because we try to fit as much as we can on the shelves. Sometimes you have to move one thing to get to another. I usually keep the radio playing softly in the background to pass the time when it’s quiet. Althan is a nice place to have a shop because the people are friendly and they usually stop to say hello even if they aren't buying much that day. We don't have a computer for billing, everything is done with a pen and a ledger book. It takes a bit more time but that is how I have always done it. The floor needs a sweep every few hours because of the dirt that comes in from the street, but I don't mind the work. It’s a small life but it’s ours. We don't try to be anything special, just a place where you can get a bag of chips or some matches when you run out at home. It’s just the daily grind of running a small general store in this part of town.
