Mahavir Traders is situated over on Varachha Road, right near the Station Road area. Our unit is B 2. Being so close to the station means the whole area is always in a hurry. You have people rushing to catch trains and others coming out of the station looking for goods. We deal with a lot of different trading items, so the shop is usually filled with boxes and crates piled up high against the walls. B 2 is a practical space, mostly just for storage and a small area to talk to customers who come by. The walls are a bit scuffed from moving pallets around for years, and the ceiling fan makes a loud clicking sound when it’s on the high setting. Varachha Road is a tough place to work because of the constant congestion, but it’s where all the action is. We spend our mornings checking the arrivals and the afternoons getting shipments ready to go back out to different parts of the city. There is always a stack of invoices on the desk, usually held down by a heavy piece of metal so they don't blow away when the door opens. It’s not a clean or quiet job, but it’s what we do every day. Station Road is never really silent, even late in the evening. Most of the people we work with are other traders from the same block. We have a small kettle in the back to make tea for whoever drops by to talk business.
