M K Masala

M K Masala is tucked away in the Hyper Market area of Parvat Patia. We are quite close to the Dr World Shopping Mall, so there’s always a lot of foot traffic and noise around. Our shop is pretty straightforward. We have shelves full of different masalas and spices that we bag ourselves. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to stock as much as possible for the customers. The air always smells like cumin and coriander, which is nice but it gets into your clothes after a while. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We mostly rely on people walking by after they visit the mall or regular customers who’ve been coming to us for years. It gets really busy on the weekends when everyone is out shopping. Sometimes it’s just one of us working the counter, so things can get a little slow if there's a line of three or four people. We do our best to keep things organized, but in a small spice shop, things tend to get a bit messy. Bags of turmeric might spill a little on the floor, or the labels we stick on get a bit crooked. That’s just part of the daily job. We aren't trying to be a big fancy supermarket. We just want to provide the basic ingredients people need for their home cooking. Parvat Patia is a lively place to be. We’ve seen many other shops come and go over the years, but we’ve stayed put.
