Khodiyar Pan Corner

Khodiyar Pan Corner is tucked away on Vasta Devdi Road over in S S Nagar. It is a small shop, mostly just a wooden counter where we spend the whole day working. People often stop their bikes right out front to get a quick pan or some tobacco before they head home for the evening. It gets especially busy once the sun goes down and the air starts to cool off just a little bit. We spend a lot of our time cleaning the green leaves and getting all the different mixtures ready for the next person who walks up. The road outside can get very noisy with all the heavy traffic passing through S S Nagar, but we have gotten used to the sound over the years. Sometimes the neighbors just stand around the front and talk for a few minutes while we do our work. It is not a big fancy store with lights and signs, just a regular corner shop where local people know they can always find us. We try to keep the glass cases wiped down, but they always seem to get dusty again within an hour or two. The light from our shop stays on quite late into the night. Every day is pretty much the same routine of cutting betel nuts and carefully folding the leaves. We see the same familiar faces every morning and again every night. It is a simple life running a pan shop on this busy street.
