About Kanaiya Vasan Bhandar – Food & Beverages in Surat
This shop on Varachha Road is where we keep all the steel pots, pans, and kitchen stuff. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside because there’s so much stacked up. Gurukul Road gets pretty noisy with the traffic outside, but we’re used to it. We’ve got plates, spoons, and those big containers people use for storing grain. It’s not the kind of place with bright lights or air conditioning. Just rows of metal things that sometimes rattle when a big truck goes by. My family has been doing this for years. We aren't trying to be fancy. If someone needs a new pressure cooker gasket or just a sturdy ladle, they come here. Sometimes we have to move three piles of boxes just to find one specific size of bowl. It’s a lot of lifting and dusting. The floor is concrete and we’ve got a couple of old fans that hum all day. We open early and close when the street gets quiet. It’s hard work, especially when it’s hot, but it’s what we do. Customers usually know what they want before they even walk in. We don't do much talking, just helping them find the right weight or brand. It’s a simple business, really. No big decorations, just useful stuff for the kitchen. We just keep stacking things up and helping out the neighbors who need a new pot.
