Jay Ambe General Stores

Jay Ambe General Stores is situated right in the Parasmani Apartment on Rander Road in the Adajan area of Surat. It is a fairly typical setup for this part of the city. We open the shutters quite early in the morning because that is when people are heading out for work and need to grab their milk or a quick loaf of bread. The traffic on Rander Road gets really loud as the day goes on, and you can hear the horns and engines from inside the shop all the time. It gets quite hot in Surat during the afternoons, so we keep the fans going, but it still feels a bit stuffy with all the stock we have piled up. There is a bit of everything here, from pulses and rice to different kinds of soaps and snacks. The shelves are pretty crowded and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer is looking for. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It is just a regular place where the locals from Gorat and Tadwadi stop by. In the evenings, it gets a bit chaotic when everyone is coming home and wants to pick up something for dinner. We see the same faces every day and know exactly what most of them are going to ask for before they even say it. It is just a small, local business and we spend our time staying stocked with the things people use the most.
