Jalaram Farshan & Namkin

The shop is located at B 17 on Varachha Road. If you walk by, you will definitely smell the oil from our big frying vats. We spend most of our time in the back preparing various types of namkin and farshan. It’s a lot of manual work, sifting flour and mixing spices by hand. The front of the shop is filled with clear plastic bags of snacks piled high on the shelves. We don’t have much room for people to walk around inside because of all the stock. Varachha Road is always crowded and dusty, so we try to keep the front glass clean, but it’s a losing battle. We’ve been here for years, and our routine hasn't changed much. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. My hands usually smell like turmeric and chili by the end of the shift. We don't have fancy packaging with bright colors. It’s just simple bags with a small label. People come in and point to what they want, and we weigh it out on the old scale. Sometimes the scale is a bit finicky, but it works well enough. We don't have a big sign outside, just the name above the door. It’s a plain place, but we keep busy enough to stay open every day. People around here know us for what we make, and that’s plenty for us.
