Hari Om General Stores

We’ve been running this shop at Mahavir Complex for quite a few years now. Most folks around here know us because we’re right near Shankarnagar Society and not too far from Palanpur Patia. It’s just a basic general store where you can find things you need for your house every day. We open up the shutters early in the morning, usually before the sun gets too high, and we don’t close until late at night. The Rander Road area stays busy, so there’s always someone coming in for a last-minute item. It’s a small place, so things get a bit crowded on the shelves sometimes. We have everything from soap and shampoo to bags of flour and different types of local snacks. My family helps me out with the work, especially when the big deliveries come in and we have to haul boxes. We don’t have fancy displays or those bright lights like the big markets in the city. It’s just us and the customers, many of whom have lived in Surat their whole lives. Being near Sona Hotel helps people find us if they’re new to the area. We just try to keep enough stock so people don’t have to go all the way into the main city for their groceries. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside and we have to spend time cleaning it off the bottles. It is just part of the job. We aren't doing anything grand, just keeping the shop going day by day.
