Giriraj Engineering Industries is over in the Harilccha Indusrial Estate. The specific address is 48 Udhna Jakkur. It is a real industrial area, so you have to expect a lot of noise and the smell of metal and oil in the air most of the time. Our unit, number 48, is where we do all the fabrication and machine work. It’s a big open space with high ceilings, but it still gets quite hot when the machines have been running all morning long. We have been in this spot for a while now, and the floor is stained with oil from years of work. Udhna Jakkur is a busy part of the city for engineering, so there are trucks coming and going all the time. Sometimes it is hard to find a place to park near the gate because of all the delivery vehicles. We have a small office section partitioned off with some plywood and a glass window, but mostly it is just the workshop. Most of the guys here have grease on their hands by ten in the morning. It isn't the kind of place you come to see a fancy display or a shiny office. It’s just where the work gets done by hand. We keep the blueprints on a big table that wobbles a little if you lean on it too hard. The tools are kept on the wall boards, though they don't always end up back in the right spot by the end of the shift when we are tired.
