Chamunda Provision Store

Chamunda Provision Store is right in the Sudarshan Apartment building on Adajan Road. Being in the Adajan area of Surat, we see a lot of people coming and going throughout the day. The shop is on the ground floor, which makes it easy for folks to just pop in. I spend a lot of time stocking the shelves with grains, oils, and all the packaged foods that people around here like. It’s a pretty straightforward job. I wake up early, get the milk crates inside, and start the day. The apartment residents are our main customers, so I know most of their names and what they usually buy on a Tuesday morning. We don’t have any fancy displays or cooling systems, just some good old fans. Sometimes the rain in Surat gets pretty heavy and we have to make sure no water leaks in under the door, but we’ve got that handled. The shop is filled with the smell of spices and soaps. I keep a close eye on the stock levels because I hate telling someone we’re out of something they need for their dinner. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bags and climbing ladders, but it keeps me busy. We don’t use any marketing tricks here. If someone needs a kilo of rice or a bottle of oil, they come and get it. It’s a small, local operation, and we’re just here to provide the basics for the neighborhood.
