Balaji Engineering

Down here at Balaji Engineering on Golemandi Road, things stay pretty busy. We are at number 245, which most people know if they’ve lived in this area for any amount of time. It is a noisy street, but you get used to the sound of the machines and the trucks going by. We do a lot of metal work and fixing parts for people who come in. Most of the time, the floor is covered in metal shavings and there’s the smell of oil in the air. That is just how an engineering shop should be, I guess. I started working here because I like fixing things with my hands. We don't have a big office or a secretary to answer every call. Usually, if the phone rings, I just wipe my hands on a rag and pick it up myself. It’s a small operation, just a few of us here. We handle whatever comes through the door. Some days it is big industrial parts and other days it is just someone needing a small bracket welded back together. It's not glamorous work, but it pays the bills and keeps us occupied. The road outside can get a bit crowded on market days. If you are looking for us, just look for the old sign. We’ve been at this address for years and don’t plan on moving. It’s just a practical shop for people who need things built or fixed properly.
