Ambika Sweets

If you go down Surat Link Road 3, you will find Ambika Sweets. It’s not a huge store, just a regular shopfront on a busy stretch of road. We spend most of our time in the back working with the big pans and the sugar. Making sweets is a lot of waiting for things to cool down or boil up. The smell of cardamom and ghee usually fills the whole place. We don’t use any fancy machines, mostly just our hands and some old wooden spoons. Sometimes the labels on the boxes are a little crooked because we pack them in a hurry. The traffic on Link Road 3 can get pretty loud, but we are used to the honking by now. We have a small bench outside where people can wait if it’s too full inside. The tiles on the wall are a bit old-fashioned, but they are easy to wash. We don't have a big website or anything like that. People just know we are here. Most of our customers live right around the corner or work nearby. We start our day early to make sure the glass cases are full. By the time evening comes, we are usually quite tired. It’s just honest work making things that people like to eat. You can find us easily enough if you are driving past. We don't have a lot to say, we just make the sweets and hope people enjoy them today.
