Ambika Super Store

Living and working in Parvat Gam is mostly about knowing your neighbors. Our store is located at D 4 5, and it’s been there for a while now. It’s a super store, but that just means we try to keep a bit of everything so people don't have to walk too far for small things. In the mornings, it's always the same routine with the milk crates arriving early and the smell of fresh bread. The floor is made of old tiles that have seen a lot of feet over the years. I usually spend a lot of time sweeping because the dust from the road just finds its way inside no matter what I do. We keep the pulses and grains in big plastic bins towards the back. Most of the kids from the nearby houses come in for snacks or those small candies after school. It’s not a quiet place, especially when the fans are humming and the fridge is buzzing in the corner. Sometimes I forget where I put the new stock of soap or detergents because the shelves are so packed. It’s just me and a helper most days, trying to keep things organized. People stop by to chat about the weather or the local news while they wait for me to weigh out their sugar. It’s a plain shop, nothing like those big malls, but it works for the people living around here in Parvat Parvat Gam. We just try to stay stocked up on the basics.
