Udhna is a busy place for engineering work. We are at B52/3 in Thakkarbapa Nagar, specifically up on the second floor. It is right near Kantilala Chunilal, which helps people find us when they get lost in the narrow lanes. Our days are full of the sound of machines and the smell of metal. The workshop gets hot in the afternoons, but that is just how it is in this part of Surat. Most of the guys have been here for years. We handle a lot of technical stuff related to textile machinery. It is not a fancy office with carpets. It is a place where work gets done. You can see the traffic moving down below from the windows on the second floor. Sometimes it takes a while to get the heavy parts moved up and down the stairs, but we manage. The area is always crowded with trucks and delivery tempos. People stop by to talk about their technical problems and we try to figure out a fix. It is mostly just us working through the pile of orders we have. The power goes out sometimes and we just wait it out. It is a simple setup really. We have our tools and our benches. That is enough for what we do here in Udhna. There is a small tea stall just around the corner where everyone gathers in the morning. We start early because the heat gets bad by noon.
