Abbasi Sweet Mart

Zampa Bazar is always full of life, and being right near Ishan Narol on National Highway 8 means we see a lot of different faces. Some people are just passing through on their way to another city, while others live right around the corner. We run Abbasi Sweet Mart and it is basically where we spend all our time. The highway noise is something you just stop hearing after a few weeks. We have our regulars who come in for their favorite snacks, and then there are the travelers who look a bit lost and just want a quick bite to eat. We keep the glass cases filled with whatever we made that morning. It’s a lot of manual work, stirring the big pots and packing cardboard boxes. The air is thick with the smell of frying and sugar syrup. We don’t have any fancy signs or big lights, just the shop and the sweets. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the handheld fans, which makes things interesting in the heat. Dealing with the temperature in the kitchen and the dust from the highway is just how it is. We’ve got the address down as Zampa Bazar, and being so close to the main road helps people find us even if they aren’t from around here. It’s a steady rhythm of cooking, cleaning, and talking to whoever walks through the door. We just try to keep the trays full and the floor swept.
