We run the Navpragati Farmer Producer Companylimited over here in Chisha Gadepan. It’s located in the Chisha area of Sultanpur. We are basically a group of local farmers who came together to manage our farming business as one unit. It’s a lot easier to deal with things when you have a company name behind you, though we’re still just the same people out in the fields every day. Our main spot is in Chisha Gadepan. It’s a quiet area mostly, unless it’s harvest time. Then everything gets very loud with tractors and people moving fast to beat the weather. We don’t have a fancy office building, just a place in the village where we keep our tools, our seeds, and our books. Sultanpur is a good place for this kind of work. We talk a lot about what crops are doing well and what pests we need to watch out for this year. There’s always someone stopping by to ask about fertilizer or to see when the next group meeting is going to be held. We don't use a lot of big words or have some fancy mission statement on the wall. We just want to grow our crops and sell them for a decent price so we can keep the farms going next year. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset.
