Our little office is located right across from Das Memorial Park in the B.B Cantt area of Srinagar. It’s a nice spot because we can see the park when we look out the window. We spend our days talking to people about where they want to go and booking cars or rooms. It’s a lot of phone calls and writing things down in ledgers. The office itself is pretty small and has a lot of brochures scattered around. We have a couple of chairs for people to sit in while we talk. Srinagar is a beautiful place, but working in the office is just like working anywhere else. We have to keep track of a lot of details. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when many people show up at once. We don’t have a fancy computer system, just a couple of old ones that work well enough. We make sure to have plenty of tea ready for whoever stops by. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear the cars passing by on the way to the city center. It’s a simple life here. Sometimes we take a quick break and walk over to the park just to get some fresh air. It’s a nice change from looking at screens. Our office has a bit of a squeaky door that we keep saying we’ll oil, but we never do. We just try to help folks get where they need to go.
