Nakhuda & Sons

You can find us at 6-9-54 on Gandhi Road in the Sarvakatta area. Nakhuda & Sons has been around for a long time and the building definitely shows its age. We have high ceilings and shelves that go all the way up, mostly filled with old ledgers and stock that’s been sitting there for a while. Gandhi Road is a main path through this part of town, so there’s a constant stream of people and vehicles outside. We spend our days sitting at the old wooden desks, dealing with the paperwork and talking to the people who walk in. It’s a family-run place, so there’s always a bit of talk about personal stuff mixed in with the business. The walls are a bit faded and the light isn't always the best in the back of the shop, but we know where everything is. We don't use any fancy computers for everything; a lot of things are still done by hand in big books. It’s a quiet kind of work compared to the noise of the street outside. Sometimes we just sit and watch the traffic go by when things are slow. We don't have a big mission statement or anything like that, we just show up every day and do the work that our fathers did before us. It’s a simple way to run a business on one of the oldest roads in Sarvakatta.
