We are located near the Tillapata ICD, specifically at numbers 2, 3, 5, and 13. Being so close to the Inland Container Depot means there is always a lot of truck movement and noise around our units. Prd Spices Ind is all about the spice trade. When you walk into our area the smell of cumin and turmeric is very strong. It stays on your clothes all day. We have a few different units where we store and process the spices before they get packed. It’s a dusty environment but that’s the nature of the spice business. We don't have any air-conditioned offices or plush carpets. Everything is concrete and steel. We spend our time checking the weight of the bags and making sure the quality is decent. The workers are always busy moving things around and the forklift is usually running nearby. We don't really have a marketing strategy. We just rely on the quality of the spices we get and the relationships we have with the transporters at the ICD. It’s a tough business with long hours especially when a big order needs to go out. We drink a lot of tea to keep going during the night shifts. Tillapata is an industrial kind of place so it suits us perfectly. We aren't trying to be fancy. We just want to get the spices processed and moved out to where they are needed. It is hard work but it keeps us busy and the cargo moving out of the depot area.
