Amar Beauty Parlour

We set up Amar Beauty Parlour in this corner of Dwarka Sector 6 a while back. It’s tucked away in the B 7 22 area which makes it a bit quieter than the main road. The room isn't very large so we have to be careful where we put the chairs and the hair dryers. Usually, it’s just two of us working here. We start around ten in the morning after finishing chores at home. The curtains are a bit faded from the sun but they keep the place private for the ladies coming in. Most of our work is threading and basic haircuts. We have a small sink in the back for washing hair, though the heater takes a few minutes to warm up in the winter. Some of the neighbors drop by just to chat even if they don't need anything done. We keep a few old magazines on the table for people waiting their turn. The floor is tile, which makes it easy to clean after a busy afternoon. Sometimes the street noise from Janakpuri filters in, but mostly it’s just the sound of the scissors and the fan. I try to keep the supplies stocked up, though sometimes we run out of the good henna powder. It’s a simple business and we like it that way. No one is in a huge rush here. We take our time to make sure things look okay before people leave. It keeps us busy enough and we know everyone's name.
