Working in Naraina Industrial Area, Phase-I, means you’re always surrounded by the sound of machines and trucks. Our office, Room 202, is in the Community Centre at building number 4. It’s a typical commercial building, maybe a bit gray and worn around the edges. We’ve been here at Impex International for a long time. The room itself is functional. We have our files organized in metal cabinets and some sturdy tables. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find designer furniture. We focus on the trading work. Some days are incredibly hectic with shipments arriving and others are just us catching up on paperwork. The lift in the building can be a bit moody, so we often end up taking the stairs to the second floor. It’s good exercise, I suppose. The community centre area is always full of people from different businesses, so there’s a lot of energy. We usually grab a quick lunch from one of the vendors nearby. The walls are thin, so we can hear the neighbors talking sometimes. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone to make us look bigger than we are. We are just a group of people working out of a small office in a busy part of Delhi, making sure our trades go through without too many problems. It’s practical, everyday work for us. We keep the lights on and the phones answered, and that is usually enough to fill up our entire afternoon until it's time to lock up.
