Shree Kamakshi High School

You can find us in Thal Shoroda, which is a quiet part of Shiroda in Goa. It’s a bit away from the main tourist tracks, so the school has a very local, village feel to it. We have a decent-sized building where the kids from the surrounding areas come to study every day. The morning assembly happens outside if the weather is good and the sun is out. In the monsoon, everything moves indoors and the sound of heavy rain on the roof can be quite loud, making it hard to hear the teachers sometimes. We have basic classrooms with wooden benches that have been around for quite some time. There’s a small ground where the students play football or cricket after their lessons are done. The atmosphere here is pretty relaxed compared to schools in the bigger towns. We don’t have a lot of high-tech gadgets, just the standard school supplies and a few old computers in the corner for the kids to use. Most of the staff and students walk to school or take the local bus from nearby villages. It’s a simple life here in Shiroda. We focus on the state board syllabus and make sure everyone stays on track with their studies. Sometimes we have small events for local festivals, and the whole school gets involved in decorating the place with whatever we can find. It’s an honest environment where we just do our work.
