About Anjuman Himayatul Islam High School – Education in South Goa
We are located in Vasco Da Gama, right here in Goa. The school is a familiar sight for people living in this part of town. It’s a high school, so we deal with teenagers mostly. It can be a handful sometimes, but it’s mostly good. The building is near the main areas of Vasco, so it’s easy for the kids to get here by bus or walking. We have a mix of students from different backgrounds, which is typical for Goa. The weather can be quite humid, so we try to keep the windows open for the sea breeze, although it doesn’t always help on the hottest days. We have a modest staff room where we sit and have tea while talking about the day’s lessons. The school has been part of the community for many years. We aren't a big private school with fancy sports complexes. We just have our classrooms and a small area for the students to gather. You can hear the sounds of the town and the occasional ship whistle from the port if the wind is right. It’s a practical place. We focus on the curriculum and making sure the students are prepared for their exams. It’s just how things are done here in Vasco. We’ve grown used to the rhythm of the school year, from the start of the monsoon to the final exams in the heat of the summer.
