About Sharada English High School – Education in South Goa
Sharada English High School is tucked away in Bazarwada, right here in Marcela. It is an old building, but it holds a lot of memories for the families around this part of Goa. Every morning, you can hear the kids running through the hallways before the first bell rings. We have got a small staff of teachers who mostly live nearby in the village. The classrooms are not very big, and the wooden desks have plenty of scratches from years of use, but it feels like home to us. We do not have those fancy digital boards you see in the big city schools. We mostly use chalk and talk. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so the ceiling fans are always going on high speed. During the monsoons, the rain on the tin roof is so loud we sometimes have to shout a bit to be heard. Parents often stop by the gate just to chat about how their kids are doing. It is a tight community here in Marcela. We try to keep the grounds tidy, though the weeds grow fast in this humid weather. The children play out back during their breaks. It is not a place with big budgets or high-tech labs. It is just a school where local kids come to learn their basics. We have seen many generations pass through these doors. Some of the current parents were students here themselves years ago. It is just a plain, honest school trying to do right by the kids in our neighborhood.
