Saraswati Gyan Mandir Junior High School

You can find us at Saraswati Gyan Mandir Junior High School on the 2nd Floor of the LIC Building. We’re right there by Rajadhyax Park in Margao. It’s a very central location in Goa, which is handy for the parents who work in town. The building is one of those solid, older ones. Being on the second floor means we get a bit of a breeze sometimes when the windows are open. We don't have a lot of extra space, so we have to be smart about how we use the rooms. Every corner has a desk or a shelf for books. The kids are at that junior high age where they have a lot of energy. Since we don't have our own yard, they go over to the park sometimes. Margao is a noisy place with all the traffic and the shops, but we've gotten used to the sound of it in the background. We are just local people running a school for the community. There aren't any big corporate meetings or fancy titles here. We just have our headteacher and the staff who look after the classes. We've got the 403601 zip code. We try to keep the costs down so local families can afford to send their kids here. It's a no-frills kind of place. We focus on the textbooks and the exams. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we all take the stairs. It’s just part of the daily routine here in the LIC Building.
