Working out of Narmada Apartments in Alaknanda is a bit different than being in a big commercial mall. We are over at 287-288, which is basically where we handle everything for the business. It’s a quiet enough area, but the parking can be a real headache if you come at the wrong time of day. Inside the units, it’s mostly piles of home textiles and different fashion items waiting to be sorted out. We spend a lot of hours sitting at the desks or walking between the two apartments to check on stock. It’s not a polished showroom with bright lights; it’s more like a busy workshop where people are always talking on phones or packing up bags. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs more than we’d like. Alaknanda has a nice feel to it, though. There are plenty of trees and you can hear the birds in the morning before the traffic really starts to pick up. We keep a pretty regular schedule, coming in early and staying until the work is finished. It’s a lot of manual work, counting pieces and making sure the orders are actually what they’re supposed to be. It’s just a regular local business trying to keep up with the daily rush. We like it here because it feels like a community, not just a place to work. It is just our daily routine in these apartments.
