Blanco (The Sunglasses Lounge)

Blanco is our little shop, also known as The Sunglasses Lounge, located at 163, Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin. If you’ve ever walked around the Basti, you know it’s full of history and narrow lanes and lots of people. We’ve been here for a while, selling all sorts of shades to people passing through or locals who need something for the bright Delhi sun. Our shop isn't huge, but we crammed a lot of styles into it. We call it a lounge because we want people to feel okay just standing around and trying things on without being rushed. Nizamuddin is a special place with the Dargah nearby, so we get a lot of different people coming into the shop. Sometimes they just want to chat, and other times they are looking for something very specific. We don't do much in the way of fancy advertising; mostly people just find us while they are walking through the Basti. We keep the glasses clean and the mirrors ready. It’s a simple business. We like being part of the community here. You see the same faces every day, and that’s nice. It’s just us and the sunglasses, waiting for the next person to walk in the door. It gets hot in the summer, but the shop stays cool enough, and we just keep doing what we do. It’s a good little spot for what it is. It's not flashy, just glasses.
