Elango Engineering Company

We are based in Uppilipalayam at Sakkarai Chettiar Colony. Elango Engineering Company has been at C-22 for a long time now. The area is mostly residential with a few small workshops scattered around. Our place is one of those. It’s a brick building with a tin roof over the back section where the machines are. It gets pretty hot during the day, especially in the summer. We have a couple of lathes and some other equipment that we use for various engineering jobs. The floor is usually covered in a bit of oil and metal shavings, no matter how much we sweep. It’s not a place for fancy clothes. We usually wear old shirts that can get dirty. Most of the people working here live nearby, so they just walk or bike to work. We don't have a big front office, just a small desk where we keep the ledger and the bills. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, except for when we are running the heavy machines. We know the people living around us, and they don’t seem to mind the noise too much. We start early in the morning before it gets too hot and try to wrap things up by five. It’s a local operation, and we just focus on getting the work done right so the parts fit like they’re supposed to. That’s about it for us.
