A. V. M. Engineers

If you head down Narada Road, you’ll find us in the Krashna Corporation Complex. We’re right near Associate Chemical and across from what used to be Vijay Mills. You can’t miss the area because of the industrial smell and the sound of machines. At A. V. M. Engineers, we spend our days surrounded by metal, oil, and blueprints. It’s not a clean job. We usually have grease under our fingernails that won’t come out no matter how much we scrub. The workshop is a bit cluttered. There are pieces of scrap metal in the corners and tools hanging on the walls where they’ve been for twenty years. We fix machines and engineer parts for other businesses nearby. It’s a lot of manual labor and standing at lathes or welding benches. We don't have an HR department or a corporate handbook. If there’s a problem, we just talk it out over a cigarette or a cup of tea. The roof is made of corrugated metal, so when it rains, it’s so loud we have to shout to be heard. In the summer, it’s like an oven inside, but we’re used to it. We don't make fancy claims about being the best. We just do the work that comes in and try to make sure it’s done right. We’ve been on Narada Road for a long time and the other shop owners are like family to us. It is just what we do.
