B.A.G. Films & Media Ltd Initiative

Working out of Minati Apartment in Mahamayatala is a bit different than what people expect from a media company. We are in block B/1/7, which is basically a residential area that we’ve turned into our base for film and media projects. It’s a bit cramped with all the editing desks and wires running across the floor, but it works for us. Usually, you’ll find someone sipping coffee while looking at raw footage or debating over a script in the small balcony area. The neighborhood is mostly families, so we try not to be too loud when we’re moving equipment in and out. Kolkata weather can be tough, especially when the humidity hits, so the AC is always running in the edit suite. We don't have a big reception desk or a shiny logo in the lobby. It’s just us, some computers, and a lot of hard work. People come and go at odd hours because media work doesn't really follow a nine-to-five schedule. Sometimes we’re here until midnight trying to meet a deadline, and other days it’s quiet enough to hear the street vendors outside. We like the Mahamayatala area because it feels like home, even when we’re buried in work. It’s a practical setup, nothing too fancy, just enough space for the team to get the initiative moving. We focus on the screens and the stories rather than how the office looks to outsiders.
