Sanskruti Restaurant

You can find us inside the Srikamal International Hotel on Railway Lines in Solapur. We are right opposite the Mayor’s Bungalow, which is a big old house that everyone knows. Being part of a hotel means we get people from all over. Some are just staying for one night for work, and others come in from the street because they live nearby. The area is usually calm compared to the market side of town. At Sanskruti, we spend a lot of time in the back prep room. It is a lot of peeling onions and washing floors. We don't have a big corporate office telling us what to do. It is just a small crew. We know where the light switches are that stick and which tables wobble if you don't put a piece of folded paper under the leg. Solapur gets very hot, so we try to keep the place as cool as possible for whoever walks in. We aren't trying to be the fanciest place in the city. We just want to have the food ready when people are hungry. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk by the counter. Other days, we are running around trying to keep up. It is a regular life here. We see the same sunrise over the Railway Lines every morning when we open up. It is just honest work for us.
