You can find us at Char Hutatma Chowk, which is near the Park Stadium in Solapur. Our place is called Gypsy Chinese Point, and it is pretty much what the name says. We make a lot of noodles and Manchurian for the local crowd. It is a very small shop, number 1 on the street. In the evenings, especially when there is something happening at the stadium, we get really swamped. The steam from the big pans fills up the whole space. It gets a bit messy with the sauces and the chopped cabbage everywhere, but that is how a busy kitchen looks. We don't have many chairs, so most people stand on the pavement or sit on their scooters to eat. Solapur people like their food quite spicy, so we keep the chili sauce ready. I have been working here for a few years now and I know most of the regular kids who come after their sports practice. We don't have any fancy menu cards, just the board on the wall. The street light outside is a bit dim sometimes, but the smell of the frying garlic usually brings people in. It is just a simple way to make a living. We close up once the sauce runs out or it gets too late. Murarji Peth is a good area for a business like this because people are always out and about.
