Rutik Cutting Salon

Down here on Latur Road in Barshi, things move a bit slower than the big cities, and that is fine by me. My salon, Rutik Cutting Salon, is just a simple place in Anooplila. I opened it because I knew how to cut hair and I wanted to stay close to home. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning that freezes you out. We have a couple of chairs and some good scissors. The floor usually has a bit of hair on it because we are busy, but I sweep it up when I get a minute between customers. Most people around here know me by name. They come in for a quick trim or a shave before they head out to the fields or the market. I don't have a big staff, just me and occasionally my nephew helps out when he isn't in school. We talk about the crops, the local politics, or just the heat. The Latur Road gets quite dusty, so I’m always wiping down the front window. It isn’t much, but it’s honest work. I like seeing a guy walk out looking a bit neater than when he walked in. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. If the light is on and the door is open, we are working. That’s how it’s been for years now and I don't see it changing much. Barshi is a quiet town, and having a small shop like this feels like enough.
