Chetak Hair Salon

Chetak Hair Salon is right in the heart of Shastri Nagar in Solapur. It’s been here for quite a while now. Most of the people living around here know us as the place on the corner. We aren't a big fancy place with air conditioning and loud music. It’s just a regular barber shop for local people. We have those old-style heavy chairs that are actually quite comfortable once you sit down. I take care of the hair cutting and my brother helps out when it gets busy in the evenings after everyone finishes work. Shastri Nagar is a crowded area, so there is always some noise or someone shouting outside the door. We see kids coming in for their school haircuts and older men who have been coming to us since we first opened. It’s a noisy place because of the traffic, but inside we just focus on the job. I keep my razors sharp and the towels are washed every day. That’s the most important thing for me. We don't use any expensive chemicals or fancy gels. Just standard soap and water and some basic hair oil that smells okay. The shop walls have some old posters on them that have started to fade. It feels like home to me and the customers don't seem to mind. We open up early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. By the time evening rolls around, the shop is full of talk and the sound of clips. It's a simple life.
