Aakash Hair Cutting Saloon

The shop is over at 41 Bhairupi Nagar, right on Vijapur Road here in Solapur. It’s not a big place, just a simple saloon where people from around the neighborhood come to get their hair sorted. Every morning starts about the same. I get in, sweep the floor, and wipe down the mirrors until the streaks are mostly gone. There’re three chairs lined up, and they’ve seen a lot of use over the years. You can smell the talcum powder and that sharp scent of cheap aftershave as soon as you step inside. It stays in your clothes. Most of the guys who come in have been coming for years. We talk about the weather, how the roads are getting busier, or what’s happening in the local news. It’s mostly just regular cuts and shaves. No fancy machines or anything, just good sharp scissors and a steady hand with the razor. Sometimes the fan makes a clicking noise when it’s on high, but nobody seems to mind it much. When it gets busy, people just sit on the bench and wait their turn, scrolling on their phones or looking out at the traffic. It’s a bit dusty because of the road, but we try to keep things tidy enough. It’s just a normal day-to-day business where we do the work and try to keep everyone looking decent before they head back out to their own lives in Solapur.
