You can find us on Agalgaon Road in Barshi, right across from the old Barshi Textile Mill. Being near the mill means we see a lot of the workers coming in for their meals. The area around Subhash Nagar is always a bit dusty and loud because of the traffic on the main road. Our dining hall is a simple space with long tables where people can just sit down and eat. We don't have any fancy waiters or a printed menu that changes. We just serve what is cooked fresh that day in the big pots. The morning starts with the sound of the mill whistle and we have to be ready by then. Sometimes the steam from the rice fills up the whole room and makes the windows foggy. We spend a lot of our time filling water jugs and clearing plates as fast as we can. It’s a busy life and my back usually aches by the time we close up. The building itself is nothing special to look at, just a regular place on a busy road in Solapur. People don't come here for the decor; they come because they are hungry and need a full plate of food before heading back to work. We just keep the fans running and make sure there is enough food for whoever walks through the door. It is hard work but seeing the same people every day makes it feel like a community.
