Kashis Salon

Kashis Salon is situated in Budhwar Peth along the Old Pune Road in Solapur. It's a busy street with lots of trucks and cars going by. I picked this spot because it's easy for people to stop as they are traveling. The shop is a bit small, but I've arranged everything to make use of the space. I have three chairs and a bench for people to wait on. I've been working in Solapur for a long time. I learned how to cut hair from my father. He had a shop too, but in a different part of town. I like the Old Pune Road area because there's always life here. I keep the shop open from early morning. I don't use any fancy lighting, just the tubes on the ceiling. They give off a steady light. I try to keep the towels clean and the combs in disinfectant. It's important to me that things are done right. Most of my customers are locals from Budhwar Peth. They are good people who work hard. We talk about the crops or the prices in the market. I don't have any big signs or advertisements. The name is just painted on the glass. It's a simple business. I cut hair, I talk to my neighbors, and I go home. That's enough for me. Sometimes I sit outside on the step when it’s slow and just watch the traffic. It’s a peaceful enough life here.
