Our place is over at No. 5, Patti Natha Singh in Baroti Wala. We are situated on the Rampur Ghat Road, which is a route most people in the Paonta Sahib area know well. Cement is heavy work, and our location reflects that. It is a bit of an industrial setting, with a lot of trucks and heavy machinery moving around the area. The air usually has that bit of grit in it that you get near cement works and river roads. We are not in a city center with glass buildings; we are out where the actual building materials are handled. Being on Rampur Ghat Road means we see a lot of through traffic and people working in the nearby fields or other plants. The office is small and functional. It is where we keep the logs and talk to the transporters. Paonta Sahib has its own pace, and we fit right into it. Some days it is quiet, and other days the road is packed with lorries. We do not spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty. The floors are usually a bit grey from the dust, and the furniture has seen better days, but it works for what we do. We stay busy with the loading and the orders. It is a practical life out here near the Ghat. We are just part of the local landscape, doing the same thing day after day.
