Up here in Darlaghat, life moves at a different speed. Our office is right here in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Being in the hills means the weather can change in an instant. Sometimes the clouds literally roll into the office space if the windows are open. We are located near the main plant area, so there’s always a bit of industrial hum in the background. The roads are winding and can be tricky during the monsoon, which affects how we plan our days. We have a small group of people working here, many of whom have grown up in these mountains. It’s a very practical workspace. We have plenty of wood furniture and heavy coats hanging on the back of chairs for when the temperature drops. We focus on getting the cement out to the various construction sites across the state. It’s a lot of logistical planning because of the terrain. We don’t have much in the way of decoration. There are some old calendars on the walls and maybe a few photos of the local scenery. Visitors usually come in looking for help with their orders, and we just sit down and talk it through. It’s not a high-pressure corporate environment. It’s more about steady work and making sure everything stays on track despite the weather and the altitude.
