Shivsankalp Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are located over at 160 Sawantwadi here in Umti Kaij. Most of us around here have been farming our whole lives, just like our parents did before us. Shivsankalp Farmer Producer Company Limited started because a few of us neighbors were sitting around talking about how hard it is to get a fair shake when you're working alone. We figured if we pooled what we have, maybe things would get a bit easier for everyone in the village. It isn't some big fancy office or anything like that. It is just a place where we come together to figure out the planting and the harvesting. Sometimes the rains don't come when they are supposed to, and other times the market prices are just plain bad, but having this company helps us keep going. We deal with the seeds and the tools and try to make sure no one is left behind. It’s hard work, waking up early and staying out late in the fields. We don't have a lot of big talk or fancy words here. We just know the soil and what it takes to grow things. If you come by Sawantwadi, you will see us working. We are just local people trying to make a living and help each other out when the season gets tough. It’s been a long road to get this set up, but we are glad we did it.
