Our place is at House Number 414 in Palkarwadi, which is part of Vetore in the Vengurla area of Sindhudurg. It is a beautiful part of Maharashtra with all the greenery and the red earth. Pailadi Farms is basically run out of this house. It is a quiet spot, and you can hear the wind in the trees most of the time. We do not have a regular office building; it is just a room set aside with a table and some chairs. Vengurla is known for its quiet pace, and we definitely fit into that. We spend our days looking over the land or checking on the plants. The house itself is old and has a lot of character, though the roof sometimes needs work after the monsoon. We do not have any staff in uniforms or big company cars. It is just us and the local workers who help out. Most of our meetings happen on the porch where it is a bit cooler. We keep our records in big binders and try to stay on top of the regulations. It is a very hands-on kind of life. You get your hands dirty and you spend a lot of time walking around the property. We are not trying to be some huge corporation. We just want to keep the farm healthy and make sure House 414 remains a productive place for everyone.
