Farmers Shack Producer Company Limited is based in Sindhudurg, right at 660, A/P Khakashi in the Devgad area. If you know Devgad, you know it's a place where everyone is pretty much connected to the soil in one way or another. We set this up because we needed a better way to organize ourselves. The name Farmers Shack sounds simple, and that’s because we are simple people. We operate out of Jamsande and try to keep things as straightforward as possible. We don't have a fancy corporate office with glass walls; it's more like a place where you can walk in with dirt on your boots and no one will mind. We spend a lot of time talking to the local growers about what is happening with their fields. Sindhudurg is a beautiful place but the work is tough. We just try to handle the business side of things so the farmers can focus on the actual growing. We deal with all the local issues that come up, from transport problems to finding the right supplies. It is a group effort, and everyone puts in what they can. Sometimes the meetings get a bit loud when we are all trying to decide on something, but that's just how it goes when people care about their livelihoods. We’ve been at this for a while now, and we are slowly figuring out the best ways to get things done. It's a local business run by local people who understand the land.
