V. K. Metals

Our shop is at number 16 in Leela Arcade, right across from the Bank of Baroda in the Amli area of Silvassa. It’s a decent spot, though finding parking can be a real headache some mornings when the bank is busy. We deal with various metals here. It’s mostly heavy stuff, so there’s a lot of lifting and moving things around. The air in Silvassa can get pretty humid, and that makes the work a bit tiring during the summer months. We open up the shutters every morning and start checking the inventory. We don't really do anything flashy. It's just a place where business gets done. People from around Dadra and Nagar Haveli stop by when they need specific metal parts or materials. The arcade has several other businesses, so there’s always someone to talk to during a tea break. We keep our records in big ledgers and try to stay on top of the orders. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late because of the traffic on the main road, but we manage. It’s a straightforward life. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just a reliable one where people can find what they need without a lot of fuss. Most of our day is spent talking to regulars and keeping the shop floor somewhat clear. It gets noisy with the metal clanking, but you get used to it after a while.
