Sutluj Women Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in Panjetamachiwara and most of the work happens right here in the local area. The company is basically a group of women farmers who decided to get together to handle our crops and business as a collective. We use Sukhwinder Singh Marewal’s place for our mail and to keep our records, but you won’t find a big fancy office there. It is just a simple village setup where we try to get things organized. Most of our time is spent out in the fields rather than sitting behind a desk. We deal with the same crops everyone else around here grows. It is a lot of hard work and we don't have a big staff to help us out. We just figure things out as we go along. Some days are busier than others depending on the harvest and the weather. We aren't trying to be a huge corporation or anything like that. We just wanted a way for us local women to have a bit more say in how our produce is sold. It’s a practical way to work and it keeps us all connected. If you come by the post office area, you might see some of us around. We don't have any glossy brochures or sales pitches. We just farm the land and try to make a go of it together as a group. It is honest work and it keeps us busy.
