Agrihike Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Yoshodhranivas in Upalavital, which is in the Tasgoan area. This is the home of Sau Patil Susma Shankar. Tasgoan is quite well known for its farming, and we are just one small part of that. We are a group of neighbors who decided that we should work together instead of everyone doing their own thing. It’s a lot of work to keep a farm going these days with the prices and everything. We don't have a fancy business office with computers. We mostly meet at the house in Upalavital when we have something to decide. We talk about the crops and the market and how we can get a better deal on seeds or tools. It’s very direct and simple English we use here. We don't have any marketing people to write fancy words for us. Most of us are more comfortable with a shovel than a pen. We just want to make sure the work we put into the land is worth it in the end. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate and we lose a lot of our hard work in the fields. That’s the hardest part about this life. But having the company helps us stay a bit more stable. We share what we know and help each other with the transport. It’s just local folks trying to make a living. We take it one day at a time and try to stay positive.
