Dalsinghsarai Mahila Farmers Producer Company Limited

This is a company run by women from the Pagra village in Dalsinghsarai. We are based at the home of Sharmila Devi, who is the wife of Balo Paswan. In our part of the world, women do a lot of the farm work but don't always get to make the decisions. We wanted to change that, so we started this group. It’s a bit crowded when we all get together to talk about the business. We focus on what we can grow and produce right here in our own fields. It’s not a fancy corporate setup. We usually have kids running around and goats nearby while we discuss our harvest. We are learning how to handle the money and the paperwork as we go. It’s a lot of work on top of our usual household chores, but it feels good to be doing something for ourselves. We don't have any professional writers to tell our story, so we just say it like it is. We are farmers, we are neighbors, and we are mothers. We want to make sure our families have a better life. We deal with the local markets and try to find the best way to sell our vegetables and grains. It’s a humble operation, but we are very serious about it.
