Uthangarai Women Farmer Producer Company Limited

This is a group of us women from around Kollapatti Village and the Venkadathampatti Post area. We call ourselves the Uthangarai Women Farmer Producer Company Limited. Our main spot is at No.165B, which isn't too hard to find if you know the village layout. Most of us have been working the fields since we were young girls, learning from our parents. It made sense to finally put a name on what we do and organize a bit better. Running a farm is a lot of physical labor, especially when you are balancing it with looking after the house and the kids. We meet up to talk about what we are planting and how to get things to the market. Being in Kollapatti means we are a bit far out from the big towns, so we have to look out for each other. Uthangarai Women Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically just a way for us to have more of a say in how our crops are sold. We don't have many fancy tools, mostly just our hands and some old equipment that we share. Life in Venkadathampatti Post moves slow, but there is always work to be done. We aren't trying to be some big corporation; we just want to make sure our families are fed and the land stays healthy. Some days are long and tiring, but seeing the crops grow makes it worth it. We are just real women doing real work here. It is a slow process to build something like this, but we are patient and strong.
